1.54pm
*phone ring*
n: WHERE ARE YOU???
me: coming!!!
n: 6 more minutes before they close the door, dear! final call oredi!
me: ok ok! coming!!!

that was SO close! i just managed to squeeze in before they close the door! else i had to miss the opening act! *phew*

on the musical, it was FANTASTIQUE!!! ok, reviews, rants and thots in point forms:

1) the stage play, props, attention to details were amazing... i was so worried i'd miss out something!

2) i personally think raoul (john bowles) has better voice than the phantom (brad little). i melted when raoul sang! :Þ

3) christine dae (played by ana marina) is so short and kecik! like a kid!

4) the orchestra conductor was a woman! dem cool...

5) the chandelier din come crashing down! instead, they just lowered it slowly... so tak dramatic langsung! ok, i know it'll destroy the prop if they were to really let it crash down, and then they'd need new chandeliers for every show... but still, the chandelier was supposed to CRASH DOWN, ok? :(

6) when piangi was hanged, the rope wasn't long enough, so he was hung quite high up... and his body din drop down suddenly, so no surprise element lor.

7) the "expensive" seat i bought was so high up, i couldn't even see the phantom's grotesqueness when christine cabut his mask off... *sigh* had to buy a binocular during the intermission

8) had wanted to buy a t-shirt as souvenir, but dem expensive! $40 for a normal cotton t! that's like nearly RM100... siao!

9) had wanted to get the program book too... but i think it's expensive also. $25!! that's nearly RM60 for one book. so cheapskate rite, me? hehehe... i really should stop this habit of converting and seeing everything in RM! *sigh*

however i din come home empty handed either *grin* ok, will not post all my shopping in here, lest ppl say i'm showing off. but since the main topic of this post is on the phantom, will just show the 2 items i bought from esplanade.

mask keychain for the bf

music box from the esplanade gift shop, comes in a set of 2. one plays 'all i ask of you' and the other plays 'music of the night'. when i saw them, i just HAD to have them! :Þ

and one set is only $28. $28 for 2 music boxes! compared to the prog book, this is more value for money, dun u think? so happy...

ipoh wedding/makan trip

ah, look at the view! ipoh is practically surrounded by these mountains! makes waking up early in the morning a pleasure... here, the ji-mui are going for an ipoh breakfast before going over to the bride's place to wait for the groom...

the wedding was a sweet and simple affair... we ji-mui had a great time 'receiving' the groom and his heng-dai, which involved daipers, ribbons, the groom's baton performance, love letter, shoe-hiding and at one point, door-barging on the part of the impatient heng-dai.

and while in ipoh, of course we had to take the opportunity to witness with our own palates all the hoo-ha about ipoh food. gosh, it was absolutely crazy!

white coffee and chee cheong fun for breakfast; iced white coffee, chee cheong fun, egg tarts and yam-kok at the original nam heong kopitiam for 'immediately-after-lunch' snacks; white coffee, iced-lemon tea, iced-lemon (to help digestion), roti dipped in curry, some sort of puff etc at one of those 'Old Town' coffee houses (that seem to be mushrooming up everywhere) for cooling down after our 'immediately-after-lunch' snacks; wedding dinner which is very different from any wedding dinner food we've tasted; taugeh chicken rice at onn kee immediately after the wedding dinner; white coffee (yes, i'm well aware we're over-doing it with the white coffee), dim sum and fried kueh teow the morning after; baked salted chicken to go; back to nam heong to ta-pao some egg tarts and yam-kok back to kl (unfortunately the egg tarts weren't ready), and while ta-pao-ing, had more iced white coffee; duck drumstick mee at bidor on the way back to kl.

cny '07

2 glaring differences from past years' cny:
1) hk uncle's whole family (including his 2 new daughters-in-law) came to spend cny here in m'sia... cool, 3 additional ang-pao's!
2) the aunties have less 2 persons to nag abt getting partners
---> the bro and me! hehe... thus giving a lot of pressure on the remaining single cousins!

back in kl, lou-sang gathering with a few gco friends at my place.

urgh... i kept asking them to keep their hands away so that
i can get a good shot of the masterpiece , but no one listened!

some entertainment after makan...

chap goh mei...

made this to a gathering at my ex-clg's... when i showed N this pic,
she went 'wow, so nice!' but when i showed her biow's koi jelly,
she said, 'dear, ur friend's fish is much much nicer than urs ler!'
aiyo, must she be so frank? sakit hati betul! ~:(

note on konnyaku koi: as opposed to biow's koi agar-agar, i used konnyaku powder instead. for the koi part, i used laichee flavoured konnyaku powder and the water part is plain konnyaku. not sure if u can see, but i put in some basil seeds in water to make it look like 'fish eggs'. haha... so weird.

misstepped...

missed a step on the stairs and sprained the ankle... :'(
